St Philips Church of England school in the Girlington area of Bradford has become the third primary Academy to join Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust.
Converting on 1st August 2014, the newly named St Philips Church of England Academy will open its doors for the 2014-15 academic year ready to take the next steps on its education journey under the leadership of Head Teacher Michelle Hargreaves, already credited by Ofsted as a driver in the school’s improving performance.
Denise Poole will also join the school as Chair of the Academy governing body, working alongside parent and community and local Diocesan representatives. Speaking after having been introduced to school pupils and parents at the schools recent 150th birthday celebrations, Denise commented:
“I am delighted to join the St Philips team as Chair of Governors. The school is showing some real improvements with an increase in KS2 results in 2014 and a positive step up the Ofsted framework. Academy conversion will be another step along the school’s education journey and I look forward to working with the staff and governors to continue this work for the children in our school”.
St Philip’s Academy will be the third primary Academy to join BDAT, alongside St Oswald’s Academy the first school joining BDAT in October 2012, and Christ Church Academy, opening in November 2013. A fourth new-build, secondary Academy, called Bradford Forster Academy will open in September 2015 as part of the Trust.
