Following on from the vibrant art exhibition at Shipley’s Victoria Hall last month, students and staff across the Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust (BDAT) school’s were delighted to see their magnificent artwork displayed on the walls of a local mental health services unit this week.
The artwork, now a permanent display at Hillbrook Child and Adolesent Mental Health Services, Keighley, has been gifted from students across the BDAT schools to the NHS to brighten up the unit for staff and children and adult patients.
The art work selected ranges from artists aged 5 – 18 years olds including three A-Level pieces, and is from over 10 different BDAT schools.
Pupils’ brought their works of art to life on numerous different mediums, including paintings on paper and canvases, as well as drawings, sculptures and more including:
Chris Tolson, Headteacher at The Academy at St James, who helped organise the event along with the help of local artist, Emma-Jo Bairstow said:
“It is so inspiring to see that the artwork of our young children is now making such a positive difference to our local health provision, cheering up walls and corridors and bringing colour in to Hillbrook CAMHS. Our students had a fantastic time letting their creative imaginations shine developing our art exibits and we hope their passion will now bring enjoyment to those visiting Hillbrook for many months and years to come”
The Trust hopes to re-run the art exhibition next year and will continue to gift artwork to local health and community centres upon request.
