Pupils at Bradford Girls’ Grammar School (BGGS) are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results.
BGGS pupils have been working hard over the last two years and the school is delighted to see them achieve an impressive set of GCSE results.
Academy attainment overall is higher than in 2019 (the last comparable set of data), showing that the school is recovering well from the effects of the pandemic. Attainment is higher than National across a wide range of subjects, including English, Maths and Science and the proportion of 9 to 7 grades awarded is higher than both 2022 and 2019. The proportion of pupils achieving 9 to 7 grades in both English and Maths has also increased for the second time since 2019.
Subjects with particularly impressive results include Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Textiles where 100% of pupils achieved grade 5 or above. In addition, 80% of pupils studying Biology attained a grade 7 or above and over 50% of pupils studying Chemistry achieved at least a grade 8.
While all pupils have done incredibly well, there are some standout individual achievements with seven pupils achieving grades 8 or 9 for every GCSE qualification that they took.
BGGS pupils are now looking forward to progressing onto their chosen further education or training institutions, with almost all students securing college or apprenticeship places for the next phase of their education.
Collecting their GCSE results today, student Abby Jacques, said “I’m so happy, I got the grades I needed”. Student Hamnah Tahir said “I worked so hard and have done better than I thought, I’m now looking forward to going to St Benedict’s.” and Unaysah Tahir added “ I’m very happy, I did way better than I thought.”

Despite GCSE grading returning to its pre-covid pattern, our pupils, who still faced pandemic–related disruption, achieved excellent results which reflect their hard work and their determination to succeed. I am delighted that they will now have the best possible choices for their post-16 destinations and look forward to hearing about their future achievements.”
