News Lottery win for St Oswalds

St Oswald’s CE Primary Academy has been awarded £10,000 through the Awards for All Scheme, which is lottery funded. Its aim is to provide activities for children in underprivileged areas and opportunities for them to participate in a variety of sports.

St Oswald’s has been successful with their bid and will be working with Just Sports Coaches to provide numerous sporting clubs during lunchtimes and after school including football, basketball, karate and gymnastics.

Children from across the school will have the chance to participate in these activities and experience different sports provided by qualified coaches. The funding will last a year but our aim is to continue this provision beyond this.

Laura Preston, Y3 teacher and PE co-ordinator said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for children at St Oswald’s to experience new and exciting sports and activities. We are very thankful that we have been successful with our bid to Awards for all and we will endeavour to make links with a variety of clubs in the community to ensure these clubs and activities can continue beyond the funding we have been given.”
