News Easter Bunny rewards pupils for Egg-cellent attendance

This school term the Trust organised an exciting competition across our 15 primary schools to further increase pupil attendance rates.

The 10-week competition challenged pupils to further increase school-wide attendance rates for the chance to win a special visit from the Easter bunny and chocolate eggs for each pupil.

The winners have now been announced, with the first-place prize split between three schools, Shipley C of E Primary School, Christ Church Academy and Cullingworth Village Primary School, in an impressive tie of a 2.5% increase in attendance rates.

Given the challenges for families post-pandemic, the Trust is dedicated to supporting all pupils to get back into the classroom. This friendly competition between schools has been a great opportunity for pupils and their families to get involved.

We are very pleased with the improvements in attendance across the Trust which has led to a fantastic further boost in classroom engagement and pupil learning outcomes.

This week, pupils and staff within the winning schools celebrated their accomplishment with a special visit from the very proud Easter Bunny!

Craig Lee, Director of Primaries at Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust, said:

“I am thrilled at the impressive and inspiring improvement in attendance across our schools thanks to great dedication from the pupils and their families. At BDAT we are committed to ensuring each child receives a high-quality education, so it is wonderful to see the pupils working hard to come to class every day and further engage with their lessons.

“The journey to improving pupil outcomes starts in the classroom, so it is my hope that the children will continue this fantastic trend of improvement and boost attendance rates even higher in the next term.”

Cathy Isaac, Headteacher at Cullingworth Village Primary School, said:

“Every school day counts. Good school attendance provides children with the best chance for future success. The children were keen to take on the attendance challenge and were kept up to date with weekly bunny updates. The children were delighted with their visit from the Easter bunny. Eggscellent work!”
