Being ready for school is so important in making sure children can thrive from the moment they walk through the school door.
The Kindred Squared School Readiness Survey 2025, published in January (Kindred, 2026), reports that in the opinion of teachers surveyed, 37% of reception pupils are not school-ready.
Key findings include:
26% starting reception without being toilet-trained.
28% being unable to eat and drink independently.
32% of children being overly upset when away from parents.
