BDAT Inclusion Strategy
At BDAT, our definition of inclusion is:
“Inclusion is our collective commitment to removing barriers so that every child, staff member and community partner is supported to achieve and thrive, while feeling a strong sense of belonging within the Trust.”
We have developed and published a Trust Inclusion Strategy that outlines our ongoing commitment to ensuring the right support is in place for all children, enabling them to thrive, fulfil their potential and feel a genuine sense of belonging within the BDAT family.
The purpose of the BDAT Inclusion Strategy is to provide a clear, consistent and purposeful strategic direction for inclusive practice across the Trust. It also provides schools with a framework to develop their own context-specific Inclusion Strategies, rooted in a shared set of Trust-wide principles that promote inclusion for all BDAT pupils.
In line with DfE requirements, each school will have developed and published its own Inclusion Strategy by 31st December 2026. Schools will also ensure that their policies and procedures align with both the Trust and school-level inclusion strategies, while reflecting the unique context, strengths and needs of their individual communities.
While we recognise and work within the DfE’s seven principles of inclusion, we also want our Trust Inclusion Strategy to reflect and embed our own vision for inclusive practice, aligned to the values, priorities and context of BDAT. This approach will help ensure the strategy remains relevant, sustainable and responsive over time, regardless of changes in the educational, economic or political landscape.
To support this, our strategy is firmly rooted in our ICARE values of Inclusivity, Compassion, Aspiration, Resilience and Excellence. These values are embraced across all BDAT schools and help shape the culture, ethos and daily experiences of our pupils, staff and wider communities.
