Pupils and Staff at Cullingworth Village Primary School are celebrating another strong Ofsted inspection after the school was judged to remain ‘good’ following a section 8 inspection in December 2022.
Cullingworth Village Primary School is located in the heart of Cullingworth Village serving 318 children from the immediate village and other surrounding areas. They are part of the successful Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust which leads a family of fourteen primaries, four secondaries and one all through school across the region to deliver high quality education.
The report highlighted that ‘pupils live and breathe the trust and school’s ‘ICARE’ values of inclusion, compassion, aspiration, resilience and excellence. They have a strong sense of pride in being a member of the school community. Adults and pupils are glad to be members of ‘Team Cullingworth’.
The report commended the hard work of leaders and teachers who ‘have high expectations of all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND)’. Pupils are described in the report as ‘cheerful, curious and in lessons are engaged and attentive’. It goes on to say ‘Pupils are taught about important issues such as equality, tolerance and prejudice. They talk about these issues with maturity and understanding’.
The school was praised for the vast range of experiences offered beyond the curriculum. The school provides ‘many clubs and sporting opportunities that are accessed by a wide range of pupils. Pupils also access outdoor activities and residential visits. During the inspection, pupils were involved in a tree planting initiative. This is a positive example of pupils leading a project and learning to become active and productive citizens.’
The report also highlighted the strong start pupils get in Reception where ‘the curriculum has been well planned with exciting and engaging activities that cover all areas of learning. It gives children an excellent preparation for their later learning in key stage 1.’
A particular strength highlighted was the schools strong safeguarding practices with the inspector commenting that ‘leaders know families well and are relentless in ensuring that pupils are kept safe’.

We are delighted the inspector could see our values of ICARE permeate through all the work we do. I am pleased that the inspectors recognised that both reading and Maths are taught well but that the strong focus on children’s personal development through our carefully constructed curriculum, and additional opportunities available to pupils is seen as equally important, something we are all incredibly passionate about. The balance between this and our excellent academic outcomes is something we are very proud of”
