The school community at Baildon CE Primary School has come together in an extraordinary show of support, raising more than £8,000 for Cancer Support Yorkshire through a sponsored ‘muddy run’. The incredible total has left both the charity and school staff overwhelmed with pride and gratitude.
Pupils, parents, teachers, and staff laced up their trainers and braved the mud and water earlier this term in a fun-filled fundraising event held on school grounds. The ‘muddy run’ saw children of all ages tackling obstacles and laughing their way to the finish line – all in aid of a cause close to the school’s heart.
Cancer Support Yorkshire was chosen as the school’s charity after it provided vital help to a much-loved teacher, Mrs Senior, during her cancer treatment. The organisation continues to support her as she recovers, making this fundraising effort particularly meaningful for the whole school community.
The event was organised by staff at the school. What began as a hopeful effort to raise a few hundred pounds quickly gathered momentum, smashing all expectations and reaching the final figure of over £8,000.
