News Bradford Girls’ Grammar School students delight in exceptional GCSE results

Pupils at Bradford Girls’ Grammar School (BGGS), located on Squire Lane, are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results.

After much hard work studying and preparing, pupils at Bradford Girls’ Grammar School, which is part of Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust, are collecting a set of fantastic GCSE results, demonstrating their dedication and tenacity over the last two years.

Overall, the Academy achieved very well and above the national average for attainment across a broad range of subjects. Over 63 per cent of students achieved grades 4 or above in both English and Maths and the Academy’s Progress 8 score was +0.05.

Subjects that saw particular success included English where 85 per cent of students achieved a pass (grade 4) or higher, separate sciences (chemistry, biology and physics) where over 50 per cent of students achieved a grade 7 in one or more specialism, and Religious Studies where 25 per cent of students achieved a grade 9.

Bradford Girls’ Grammar School pupils are now looking forward to progressing onto their chosen further education institutions, with more than 95 per cent of students progressing to higher education at a range of local post-16 provisions.

While all pupils have done incredibly well, there are some standout individual achievements. These include:

  • Muneebah Asghar achieved four grade 9’s in Art, French, English Language, History, as well as four Grade 8’s and one Grade 7.
  • Zoha Farooq achieved three grade 9’s in English Language, French and Religious Studies, as well as four Grade 8’s and two Grade 7’s.
  • Raviha Mohtisham achieved two grade 9’s in Biology and Chemistry, as well as three Grade 8’s and three Grade 7’s.
  • Amber Saeed achieved Grade 9 in English Literature, as well as one Grade 8 and six Grade 7’s. 

Collecting her GCSE results today, Liba Majid, said:
“I’m really happy. I’m so glad that all my hard work has paid off and that the teachers have had my back from day one.”
