Pupils and Staff at Wycliffe C of E Primary School are celebrating a positive Ofsted report which finds the school to be ‘Good’ in all areas.
Wycliffe Primary School was previously graded ‘Inadequate’ in 2017 before it joined Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust (BDAT) in 2018. Since then, the school with the support of the Trust, has been working to transform and improve its education provision. Following the recent inspection which took place in April 2023, this latest report recognises the pace and quality of progress made, saying school and Trust leaders “made significant improvements to the school in recent years.”
The report also commends the school’s “high ambitions for the pupils“ and “ambitious curriculum.” Inspectors note pupils are “polite and considerate” and “enjoy coming to school and feel happy and safe.” Pupils also “appreciate the additional responsibilities they can take on, such as buddies, school prefects and school councillors.”
The report praises the school for its SEND provision, citing “pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are supported well” and noted how the school’s nurture room is used effectively to support pupils’ wellbeing. The report also notes the strong safeguarding practices in place at the school.
Inspectors also highlight the strong start pupils get in Reception, where staff’s high expectations of the children are achieved, with the children being “focused and engaged.” The report says that in Reception, “there are clear routines and children cooperate and enjoy positive relationships.”
Together with support from BDAT, Wycliffe C of E Primary plans to continue its strong journey of improvement to further build on its offerings and provisions for pupils and staff.
