Pupils and staff at St Philip’s C of E Primary School are today celebrating being described in their most recent Ofsted report as giving pupils, ‘the best possible preparation for the next stage of their education and for life.’
The report highlighted the positive learning environment in school and the exceptional behaviour of pupils. Inspectors stated, ‘behaviour is excellent and founded on well-established routines and high expectations of adults. Staff create an environment at St Philip’s C of E Primary School where pupils are polite and welcoming. Pupils enjoy coming to school and feel that it is a safe place to be.’
In addition, the report commended the hard work of leaders and teachers who, ‘have planned an ambitious curriculum. They have developed a clear sequence of learning that runs from Nursery to Year 6. They have identified the important knowledge that they want pupils to know. The curriculum is designed so that pupils’ knowledge builds over time. Leaders have ensured that the development of language, vocabulary and speaking skills is a high priority.’
The report also highlighted how the children in the academy’s Early Years get the best possible start to their education stating that, ‘Children in early years are confident and independent learners. They learn with sustained attention.’
The school has maintained a strong and stable staff over many years, with staff reporting, ‘…that they enjoy working at the school. They talk about how well supported they are by leaders. They describe the workplace as like being ‘part of a family’.’

“We are thrilled for our pupils, staff and our whole school community. Everyone worked tirelessly to achieve this result and they can all feel incredibly proud of themselves. “We were given the opportunity by the inspector to demonstrate who we are and what we do, day-in-day-out, here at St Philip’s in response to the needs of our pupils – and that has been affirmed by this outcome.”
